Calle Larga XXII Marzo
Calle Larga XXII Marzo
A name that evokes the story of Venice
Calle Larga XXII Marzo (also known as Via XXII Marzo) - and its continuation towards Piazza San Marco - is one of the main streets for luxury shopping in Venice. On this street is located the Hotel Saturnia & International.
For many, the history of this street is a fascinating journey into the city's past. In fact the street takes its name from one of the most important events of the Venetian Risorgimento: on March 22nd, 1848, the Venetians drove out the Austrians and proclaimed the Republic again, with president Daniele Manin. The Republic, however, lasted very little since on August 22nd, 1849 the Habsburgs returned to dominate the city.
Walking down this street, surrounded by elegant shops, you will discover that every corner of Venice carries a piece of history. Just like our hotel. Partially located in a 14th-century palace, it was opened back in 1908 as a small inn with just 8 rooms and has grown over the years to become a modern 88-room property with all the most sought-after comforts (including a small Gym & Wellness area that few hotels in Venice can offer), while preserving the historical features that characterise its ambience and make it unique.
The most exclusive shopping a few steps away from the Hotel Saturnia & International
As the name recalls, Calle Larga XXII Marzo is one of the widest streets in Venice. Here you will find the most exclusive shops in the city. Shopping addicted can find the boutiques of the great Italian fashion companies and the most renowned international brands such as Armani, Gucci, Chanel, Rene Caovilla, Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Brunello Cucinelli and others.
In Calle Larga XXII Marzo, right next to the Hotel Saturnia & International, you will also find a pier for your gondola ride, the most picturesque way to explore the city.
