At the foot of the Accademia Bridge in the Dorsoduro district lies the Accademia Art Galleries , one of the most important Italian museums.
The complex houses the St.Mary of Charity Church, the Lateran Canons' monastery and the Great School of St.Mary of Charity. The name is linked instead to the Academy of Fine Arts that has its historic headquarters here.
Most of the artworks here are from Venetian and Veneto artists. Just to name a few of the masterpieces you can find here: the Madonna Contarini by Giovanni Bellini, the Stories of St. Ursula by Vittore Carpaccio, the Tempest by Giorgione, the Theft of the body of St. Mark by Tintoretto and the Dinner at Levi's house by Veronese.
