Santomaso and the abstract Option - Venice Events
Giorgio Cini Foundation – Venice
Twenty-five years after the last Venetian exhibition of Santomaso’s works, this great show celebrates the Venetian Abstract master’s 100th birthday anniversary, tracing his career from its early days to the peaks of his mature artistry. The show is accompanied by a collection of works by Santomaso’s contemporaries, offering an opportunity to view a considerable section the of Italian and European painting at the second half of the 20th century.
Among the artists represented here are Afro, Birolli, Mario De Luigi, Minassian, Music, Pizzinato, Vedova, Lazzari, Tancredi, Corpora, Guidi, Toti Scialoja, but also Braque, Poliakoff and Winter, testimony of the dialogue – long distance but often made shorter – which Santomaso was engaged in with leading figures in Italian and European Abstract art.
The show includes also the artist’s main graphic art works created beginning in the second half of the 1930s, as well as the rare art books he edited and created.
Open 10 am 6:30 pm – Closed on Monday
