Palladio in Venice - Museum Correr St. Mark's Square
The show, part of Palladio's 500th birthday anniversary, produced by the Veneto Region and coordinated by the special Regional Anniversary, traces the history ofthe great Renaissance architect's ties with Venice.
On view are over 300 works - prints, manuscripts, documents and drawings - that offer a view of the Venice environmnet in Palladio's time and during his activity in the city (both theoretical works and actual projects that where designed, buil or lost).
Special attention is paid to Palladio's work of redesigning the unique and symbolic Venetian urban scene of St. Mark's Basin, with his facade of San Giorgio Maggiore, the votive Church of the Redentore on the Island of Giudecca, and Zitelle Complex, producing a breathtaking result of extraordinary innovative force.
The exhibition was organize in collaboration with the Marciana National Library and the Unviersity of Venice (IUAV) and offers a compelling multimedia section open to the pubblic.
