Venice: Exhibitions, Art and Sport

With Carnival behind, Venice is back to its natural rhythms and life cycles. The month of March is welcomed as a well-earned break, prior to the opening – during Easter and early spring- of the new tourism high season. This, then, is one of the most pleasant periods of the year for visitors, who can take full advantages of extraordinary opportunities  and of the city’s special monuments and beauty, as well as of an impressive calendar of events. Art, Music, Leisure, Sports – here’s a quick rundown of events you should interested in.

Art exhibition are once again the main attraction in Venice. Among the new openings this month we recommend Sargent and Venice, a show that Venice takes great pleasure in dedicating to the American Impressionist master who was “in love” with its allure. Starting in March 23the Correr Museum, the most important local civic museum, is to offer sixty-odd works (oil and water-color paintings) coming from leading American museums as well as from the Royal Academy of Art of London and the Tyssen-Bornemisza of Madrid. Palazzi, Churches, City Squares and canals are depicted in curious scenes of everyday life in old Venice of the late 19th century and early 20th century. Unique noteworthy elements include the study of light, free interpretation of incisiveness.

Among upcoming openings we would like to mention also the exhibition of Guido Cadorin ( 1892 – 1976) the leading 20th century  Venetian artist at Querini Stampalia Foundation March 24.
